About HUMAs: Harvard University Mexican Association of Students

The Harvard University Mexican Association of Students groups students, faculty, workers and researchers from Mexico currently at Harvard as well as Harvard residents interested in Mexico.

Founded in the 1990's, HUMAS has promoted Mexico's presence at Harvard through a myriad of activities such as conferences, seminars, as well as as social and cultural activities.

HUMAs is also a bond with organisms affiliated to Harvard in Mexico such as Fundación México en Harvard, Club México en Harvard y Harvard Alumni Mexico.

What are the main challenges in Mexico for our generation?
What is our role in fostering change? What are our proposals?
 
Students from different universities in the Boston/Cambridge are focusing on developing responses to the challenges that Mexico is facing. We consider that the next couple of years are crucial for the success (or failure) of our country.
 
In response to this uneasiness, México, Adelante is collaborative initiative led by HUMAs, Mexican students from Harvard, Tufts, MIT, and Babson, and Harvard Club de México. Through discussion spaces and student led projects, we seek to maximize our positive impact in Mexico, now and in the future. Our goal is to construct creative and inclusive solutions to address our nation’s biggest challenges.

Senator Santiago Creel @ HKS

Senator Creel visited last January 13th the Kennedy School of Government. This space was a great opportunity to discuss some relevant topics in the legislative agenda of Mexico, and to know the position and initiatives of Senator Creel. 

 

Santiago Creel Miranda (Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal; 11 de diciembre de 1954) es abogado y miembro del Partido Acción Nacional. Su carrera inició como abogado independiente, consejero ciudadano del Instituto Federal Electoral de 1994 a 1996, posteriormente fue diputado federal de 1997 a 2000 hasta ser designado Secretario de Gobernación del gobierno de Vicente Fox de 1 de diciembre de 2000 a 1 de junio del 2005. Fue electo senador y asumió el cargo el 1 de septiembre de 2006.
